Mission Accomplished!

I know it doesn't look like much, but this folding table effectively tripled my workspace.  All that cleaning/re-organizing yesterday really paid off.  Another thing that pays off is having a handy husband.  Dude just saved me $75 by building me a yarn skeiner.  ( I re-skein everything I dye.)

Homemade yarn skeiner

I have plans for dyeing self-striping sock yarns this fall when I move back home.  This is going to reqire a huge skeiner (and the space for it, hence the wait until fall/moving) to make skeins that are long enough for the lengthy color repeats needed to form stripes.  I'm pretty excited about the prospect, and even more excited about moving.  A double whammy of goodness!

  1. That is neat. Space is at a premium around here, so I know the joy of getting some workspace set up. {Smile}

    Which is the yarn skeiner? I never met up with one, not even while we were most into weaving. {Smile}

  2. The yarn skeiner is the dealie on the left in the photo. Totally vital when you want to re-skein yarn.

    Oh, man. I am looooving this new work area. Makes life just that much easier!

  3. The skeiner is cool, I can't believe how expensive they are.

    Maybe this whole debacle will end in me moving somewhere I can actually wear knitted goods. ;) Won't that be nice. <-- (totally a Princess Bride reference)

  5. That is a neat machine. {Smile} The few times we've had to re-skein, we just used hand to elbow. Of course, we never had to do this often. If we had, I'm sure the woodworker in Dad would have insisted on making something better. {SMILE} Dad swears he enjoyed making his loom more than he ever enjoyed weaving with it.

    Which is why I may just have to adopt his loom someday.... {REALLY BIG GRIN, wink}

  6. Weaving...I am tempted. Definitely. How many hobbies can one woman have?
