Ode to a Dead Lizard

Dead lizard

Ode to a Dead Lizard

On the path to my front yard I spied,
A tiny lizard who had died.

Oh, little dude, all gnawed and chewed,
I blame my cats, they are so rude.

In other news, we have moved. At last! There are about a metric fuckton of tiny annoying and hugely annoying things that are pressing and or not so pressing right now, thus the lack of blogity blog on my part.

Things like my husband saying, "blah blah, blah, refinance the house, blah, blah, blah, good interest rates, blah blah blah, appraisal in a week or so." Did you catch that last part? Yeah. My husband is a great guy, but I don't think there's any question why I intend to take up slurping vodka tonics for my cardio.

Oh, and he dropped a washer/dryer combo on me last night. I'm only slightly exaggerating here.

  2. Kitties just love small skittery things that try to get away when they try to catch them, don't they? {SMILE, wink}

    I hope the move went well, or at least without too many snafus? {Smile}

    I hope the rest of your life calms down enough to let you post again. {Warm Smile}

  3. Hi, Val!

    All we can say is: WORD!

    Signed,
    Jack, Meg, Chompy, Muffin, Sybil and the five other as yet unnamed cats we inherited when we moved here.

  4. Snafu is such an apt word.

    Or, what I like to call, "life with Adam".

    So glad you didn't get blown away by the hurricane, Anne!

  5. "Appraisal" isn't really as scary as it sounds - I don't think, f'rinstance, that it matters if the house is clean, put together, etc. More a matter of making sure the square footage is correct, see the improvements on the property, that kind of thing.

  6. Oh, I've been through several appraisals. Here's the rub:

    1. Our renters left the place outside dead/dying. I've been watering non-stop for two weeks and it looks like it's recovering fairly nicely. It's not going to look it's best, and that bugs me. They also dug holes in the yard and dumped the cat box all over the place.

    2. Currently, I'm surrounded by boxes of stuff that need dealing with. Lots and lots of boxes. It's ridiculous.

    3. The painting still isn't done. My kitchen isn't put together at all. The cabinet doors are on the livingroom floor.

    4. There was some damage to the slate floor and a several other things that absolutely have to be fixed pre appraisal.

    5. The paint outside on the house, garage, and outbuilding needs touching up. It's peeling off in several places.

    6. The stairs up to the playhouse are a hazard. They will have to be dealt with in a serious way.

    There are other things I'm not mentioning here, but you get the picture.

  7. Ouch! Especially on the renters treating the place like crap (literally) front. I know you guys will manage to pull it off, though, especially if you focus on the stuff the appraiser will really care about.

  8. Yeah, we'll pull it off. At least I know that by Tuesday afternoon, I can relax, which is really all I care about. Happy Birthday to me!
